Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin presented U.S. Congressman Rep. Bryan Steil with its Pioneer for Prosperity award Wednesday at Kolar Arms in Racine.
The award recognizes Steil as a policy champion who has consistently supported families and small businesses throughout his career. He’s voted for a number of policies aligned with AFP priorities, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
The Pioneer for Prosperity award is AFP’s recognition for lawmakers who consistently champion free-market, limited-government policies and partner with the organization’s national and state-level efforts.
Steil addressed the importance of Wisconsin manufacturing jobs during the event, pointing to companies like Kolar Arms. The Racine manufacturer produces high-quality competition shotguns for trap, skeet, and sporting clays and has deep roots in local production.
“With our workforce, we can outcompete anybody across the globe,” Steil said.
Steil, who represents Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, worked in the southeast Wisconsin manufacturing sector for more than a decade before entering Congress. The event highlighted the important connection between policymakers and local employers to pass policies that improve workforce strength and economic opportunity for all.
