Matt Rosek defeated Karen Spiegelberg to win the Oconomowoc mayoral election.
Longtime alderman and City Council President Matt Rosek won election as mayor of Oconomowoc on Tuesday, defeating fellow alderman Karen Spiegelberg in the open race to succeed term-limited Mayor Robert Magnus.
Unofficial results showed Rosek capturing about 56% of the vote to Spiegelberg’s 44%, with more than 6,600 ballots cast in the contest.
Rosek, a 12-year veteran of the City Council who served five terms as its president, campaigned on fiscal responsibility, public safety, and preserving the city’s small-town character amid growth in the Lake Country region.
A self-described commonsense conservative, Rosek emphasized his record of blocking tax increases while supporting business-friendly developments such as bringing a Costco store to the community. He also highlighted his experience as a former volunteer firefighter and EMT, pledging consistent leadership without the tax-and-spend approach he attributed to his opponent.
