Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany announced Tuesday a major statewide television, digital, and streaming ad campaign highlighting his rural roots, family life, and plans to cut property taxes, reduce government red tape, and protect Wisconsin homes and farmland from out-of-state investors.
The 30-second spot, titled “Cliché? You Betcha!,” is part of a seven-figure ad buy airing across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms throughout Wisconsin. It features Tiffany speaking directly to voters from iconic Wisconsin settings: a dairy barn filled with cows, a cozy living room where his mother, Virgal Tiffany, quilts, and a neighborhood bar with a glowing “Old Fashioned” neon sign. “I’m Tom Tiffany. Democrats say that I am too cliché, well … I did grow up milking cows on a Wisconsin dairy farm!” he says with a smile. The scene shifts to his mother quilting in the background as he lists his credentials: “My mom quilts. I’ve been a dam tender, boat captain, and girl dad with perfect attendance at 20 Nutcrackers.”
Cutting to a bar scene, Tiffany raises an Old Fashioned and declares, “I love the Packers, Brewers, Badgers — everything Wisconsin … except Madison politics.” He then returns to the living room to deliver his campaign pledges: “I’m running for governor to cut property taxes and red tape, stop Wall Street from buying our homes and Big Data from bulldozing our farmland.”
On-screen text reinforces the message: “CUT PROPERTY TAXES & RED TAPE” followed by “PROTECT OUR HOMES PROTECT OUR FARMLAND,” before closing with the tagline “Cliché? You betcha!”
In a statement accompanying the launch, Tiffany tied the ad to his personal biography. “Growing up milking cows on a Wisconsin dairy farm, running a small business with my wife Chris in the Northwoods for two decades, and serving as a dam tender on the Willow Flowage for 29 years taught me the value of hard work, strong communities, and protecting the Wisconsin we love,” he said. “I love this state, but Madison politics is holding us back.”
