State Rep. Bob Donovan announced he will seek reelection to the Wisconsin State Assembly for the November 2026 election.
Donovan, a Republican from Greenfield, has served in the Legislature since winning his election in 2022. He is currently in his second term representing the 61st Assembly District.
The district covers southwest Milwaukee County, including the city of Greenfield, the villages of Hales Corners and Greendale, and portions of the city of Milwaukee and Franklin.
“Over the past session, I have fought tirelessly to protect our communities by securing critical resources for Milwaukee County’s public safety, passing tough new laws to tow reckless drivers off our streets, and pushing for an end to the outdated and burdensome vehicle emissions testing program that has taxed southeast Wisconsin drivers for far too long,” Donovan said.
Donovan serves as chairman of the Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization. He is vice chairman of the Committee on Local Government and a member of the committees on Criminal Justice and Public Safety and Judiciary.
Donovan served more than 20 years as a Milwaukee Common Council alderman, focusing on public safety and neighborhood revitalization projects.
In the 2024 general election, Donovan won reelection with about 51.5 percent of the vote. The same district, however, supported Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris over Donald Trump.
His decision to run again keeps an experienced Republican voice in one of the most competitive seats in the state ahead of the November 2026 election.
