Step right up to the greatest show on earth, now playing in Wisconsin’s 40th Assembly District, where former Ringling Bros. clown Karen DeSanto is back demanding an encore.
DeSanto earned her big-top credentials at Clown College in 1993, toured with the Big Apple Circus, and performed slapstick in Baraboo before deciding the real circus was the Wisconsin State Assembly. She flipped the seat in 2024 thanks to Democrat-friendly maps. Now this rookie red-nose legislator wants two more years to keep the act going.
Her first term has been a full-throated trans rights activist’s dream come true. In an early floor speech, DeSanto opposed protecting minors from irreversible surgeries and puberty blockers, declaring, “I object to creating unnecessary threats and restrictions for physicians providing medically appropriate care to their patients.” As if slicing open a boy’s penis and creating a permanent wound is “care.” She leaned on her Boys & Girls Club experience “helping trans children,” complete with the standard suicide-threat rhetoric. Of course, the clown defies basic biology and cheers on the chemical disruption of confused children’s endocrine systems with castration drugs.

DeSanto has also been photographed with members of the group South Central Queers & Equality. This organization has drawn controversy in the Sauk Prairie area for events featuring sexualized displays geared toward children. The group is led by activist Josh Lowe, who critics have described as an alleged Antifa-linked figure.
How can we trust Karen to champion women’s rights when her ideology insists some women have penises? Naturally, the professional jester votes against bans on males in girls’ sports, locker rooms, and bathrooms. Democrats, with Karen’s reliable support, have promised to keep battered women’s shelters and crisis services open to men who identify as female, prioritizing feelings over the safety of actual women fleeing violence. Instead of an American flag or a symbol recognizing women, Karen plastered a transgender decal on her office door. Imagine the continued waste of your tax dollars while she puts mentally ill men’s delusions on a pedestal over women and girls’ natural rights.
DeSanto’s freshman debut aligned with modern Democrat priorities: supporting the redefinition of “breastfeeding” as “chest feeding,” ensuring facilities and services are inclusive for biological males who identify as female, and opposing sex-based restrictions in prisons and sports. In Karen’s worldview, men can become pregnant and menstruate, ridiculous positions that realists say undermine women’s safety, fairness, and single-sex protections.
While Republicans fight to protect girls’ sports, secure women’s spaces, safeguard children from experimental medical interventions, and restore sanity, the insane are truly running the asylum. No wonder so many kids today are confused and can’t even pass basic proficiency tests: a clown who can’t tell the difference between a boy and a girl is sitting on the Mental Health committee pushing the opposite agenda. Her low approval from real women says it all.
Thankfully, District 40 has a real alternative in Julie Helmer: no circus training, no denial of biological reality, and no plans to waste taxpayer dollars on foolishness like tampons in men’s bathrooms. Julie grew up a tomboy who climbed trees, baited worms on fishing hooks, and kicked dirt with her male peers. She understands girls go through natural changes and is thankful Democrat clowns like Karen DeSanto weren’t chasing her around with a scalpel just for being a kid. She brings the grounded experience of a business owner, mother, and grandma who puts Wisconsin families, especially women and children, first.
The 40th District, hardworking communities in Baraboo, Portage, Prairie du Sac, and beyond, doesn’t need more performative nonsense from a circus performer who erases women to appease the latest progressive delusion, poses for photos with groups sexualizing children at local events, and cozies up to antifa-linked activists. It needs leaders who recognize there are two sexes, protect kids, and defend women’s rights instead of mocking them.
The circus has overstayed its welcome. In November, send Karen the Clown back under the big top and restore sanity, safety, and reality to Wisconsin.
