Municipal clerks across Wisconsin have begun mailing absentee ballots for the November 3rd general election. Clerks must send absentee ballots by the statutory deadline of September 17th to fulfill requests that already on file.
As of Wednesday morning, 282,396 Wisconsin voters have requested absentee ballots for the November 3rd general election. Of those requests, 66,565 ballots have been sent to voters, and 36 completed ballots have already been returned to clerks.
For comparison, in the 2024 general election, about 550,000 voters returned absentee ballots by mail and another 950,000 voted early in person at clerk offices, a total of 41% of voters.
Any registered voter in Wisconsin may request an absentee ballot. Applications and ballot tracking are available at MyVote.wi.gov. The deadline for most voters to request a mail ballot is 5 p.m. on October 29. Returned ballots must reach the clerk by 8 p.m. on Election Day to be counted. In-person absentee voting at clerk offices is scheduled to begin October 20, although hours vary by municipality.
