A 2010 tweet explicitly tying Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley to a crude social media account directly contradicts his campaign’s assertion that “10 to 12 people” shared control of the profile, which posted racist, sexist and homophobic remarks over the course of over several years.
The X account @No_pork_plz, under the name “Dirt McGirk,” posted inflammatory content from 2010 to 2014. Posts included slurs targeting women, racial insults and derogatory remarks about the LGBTQ community.
A May 10, 2010, post from the account stated: “Follow No_pork_plz for those who don’t know it’s DC aka David bka Dirty or black ass dude hahaha… just STFU and follow.” The message directly identified Crowley, using his initials and the apparent nicknames “Dirty” and “Black Ass Dude.”
Crowley’s campaign has said he was one of several people with access to the account, created more than 15 years ago, and did not write the offensive material. A spokesperson described it as a group effort originally aimed at promoting clubs, with some posts attributed to a now-deceased associate. Crowley has condemned the language while acknowledging he made some personal entries, such as comments related to paternity.
The account’s activity, however, showed repeated personal ties to Crowley, including one that referenced his work at the time for former Senator Russ Feingold, whom he referred to as #DwightMan (a creative spelling of “da white man”).
Crowley has faced intense scrutiny over the account since it was discovered by NBC News Thursday afternoon.
