Gov. Tony Evers has confirmed that members of the Wisconsin National Guard are deployed in the Middle East as part of Operation Epic Fury. Evers, commander-in-chief of the Guard, said he is receiving routine briefings from military officials and urged Wisconsinites to pray for the troops.
“As we continue monitoring the war in the Middle East, Kathy and I are praying for the health, safety, and safe return of our Wisconsin National Guard members currently supporting ongoing military operations overseas,” he said in a statement posted to X.
The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs confirmed participation but withheld specifics on troop numbers, missions, or locations for operational security.
Gen. Dan Caine, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, praised the Wisconsin Army National Guard during a Pentagon briefing Monday, highlighting troops operating in Kuwait and Iraq as part of integrated reserve forces. Units including elements from the 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery Regiment and 108th Forward Support Company have been deployed since November 30 for a year-long mission.
