Salah Salem Sarsour, the president of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, was recently detained by federal immigration authorities and owes nearly $27,000 in unpaid property taxes on his home in the Milwaukee area.
According to screenshots from the Milwaukee County Public Portal, Sarsour’s property on Kensington Way is listed as delinquent for tax years 2024 and 2025. The total balance due as of April 3, 2026, is $26,996.38, including principal, taxes, interest, and penalties. Records show $8,546.15 owed for 2024 and $18,450.23 owed for 2025. Earlier years (2020–2023) appear to have been paid.
Salah Salem Sarsour hasn’t just committed immigration fraud; he has also racked up nearly $27,000 in unpaid property taxes on a million-dollar Milwaukee home, drawing questions about where Sarsour’s money has been going.
The revelation comes days after Sarsour’s detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents outside his Milwaukee home. Sarsour is a Jordanian national who was convicted of throwing a Molotov cocktail at Israeli forces’ homes and allegedly lied on his immigration application to obtain a green card under President Bill Clinton. He remains in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
While many on the left have argued that the arrest targets him for his public criticism of Israel, and a decades-old conviction in Israeli military courts from his time as a minor in the West Bank. Mandela Barnes, who called the arrest of Sarsour ‘unlawful,’ is no stranger to his own issues with taxes and must feel as though Sarsour is a kindred spirit.
Rep Tom Tiffany, who first shared the posts on Sarsour’s tax issue on X, highlighted a broader criticism of Wisconsin leftist politicians, claiming they have defended Sarsour despite his background, which the congressman described as including suspicions of funding Islamist terrorism and prior denial of U.S. entry.
Property tax records are publicly available through Milwaukee County, and the delinquency applies only to recent years.
Tiffany, a vocal critic of sanctuary policies and immigration leniency, used the tax disclosure to underscore what he called a failure to hold accountable individuals with serious allegations.
