Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Jill Karofsky, one of the most partisan leftists to ever sit on the state’s highest court, is criticizing conservative candidate Maria Lazar for, get this, her past political work.
Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Jill Karofsky is criticizing conservative Supreme Court candidate Maria Lazar for her past political work, apparently forgetting that she herself is one of the most partisan liberals to ever sit on the state’s highest court.
“What I have seen of Judge Lazar is that she talks about being independent, and yet the work I saw her do at the Wisconsin Department of Justice was to really – in a couple of very stark examples – be the person who was carrying the flag of the right-wing interests,” Karofsky told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Wednesday.
Karofsky seems to have forgotten that she also worked at the Wisconsin Department of Justice under Democrat Attorney General Jim Doyle, whose DOJ was notoriously friendly with left-wing interests–a coziness he brought with him when he was elected governor in 2002.
Karofsky also accepted $1.3 million from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (the state’s largest left-wing political interest group) in her 2020 campaign.
In the upcoming Supreme Court election, Karofsky is backing liberal Court of Appeals judge Chris Taylor, who was literally the public policy director for left-wing interest group Planned Parenthood and was elected to the Wisconsin Assembly as a Democrat. She collected hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign money from left-wing interest groups in her various runs for re-election and has taken in a substantial portion of her $3.46 million Supreme Court fundraising haul from left-wing interests (including $260,000 directly from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin).
It appears that Karofsky forgot about this while blasting Lazar’s past work. It is unclear whether her interviewers at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel attempted to jog her memory.
