A 31-year-old from Madison is charged with killing a 61-year-old former coworker because she was upset the woman supported President Trump.
A 31-year-old Madison woman appeared in Dane County court Wednesday on a first-degree intentional homicide charge in the March 22 shooting death of a 61-year-old former coworker, authorities said.
According to a criminal complaint, Diamond Wallace killed her victim because she was incensed that the woman supported President Trump. Wallace also accused her of being racist.
Christine A. Jones of Cottage Grove was found shot to death shortly before 8 a.m. in a public parking ramp in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue. She worked as a housekeeping supervisor at a downtown hotel and was walking to her shift when she was killed, police said.
Wallace and Jones had worked at the same hotel. Wallace was fired last April and responded by slashing Jonesβ tires, a criminal complaint alleges. The complaint also says Wallace had accused Jones of racism and was angry that Jones supported President Trump.
Wallace was taken into custody Monday outside an apartment on Milwaukee Street. A handgun found in her residence matched ballistics evidence from the scene, the complaint states.
In addition to first degree intentional homicide, Wallace faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. She remains in custody on $2 million bail.
