Congressman Brandon Gill (R-TX) visited Wisconsin over the weekend hitting the campaign trail with Tom Tiffany, Bryan Steil, Eric Toney and John Leiber visiting Janesville, Walworth, Mount Pleasant and Bristol Saturday, October 17. They participated in a rally at each stop focusing their message on early in-person voting (starts October 20), lowering taxes, and the stark contrast between Republican candidates who believe in common sense policies versus the far-left, radical craziness inside the Democrat party.
I had the opportunity to interview Brandon Gill, the youngest Republican member of the House of Representatives at the D’s Barn rally in Bristol where roughly 100 attendees were present. Gill kicked off the rally with a hard-hitting speech highlighting how far removed the far-left crazy Democrat policies are from the majority of voters who are common-sense Americans.
In his speech, Gill recounted a House Oversight Committee hearing last year where he grilled Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Gill serves as the chairman of the Task Force on Defending Constitutional Rights and Exposing Institutional Abuses on the committee. He began walking through the hearing:
“Governor, should men use women’s restrooms?” asked Gill, but Pritzker wouldn’t answer.
“I’ve got this tweet you put out not that long ago that says: ‘to protest President Trump, everybody should use the opposite gender bathrooms.’”
“Governor, since you wouldn’t answer my first question, let me ask you this – have you ever used the women’s restroom?” The room erupted in laughter.
Gil said Pritzker turned red in the face and “kind of kind of angry” Pritzker finally he said, “no I haven’t.” Gill responds, “so you didn’t do it, you’re just asking everybody else to do it.”
“Governor, did you think that women don’t want you in their bathroom? Did you ever think maybe there were underaged girls in the bathroom that you were telling men to go into?”
Gill said to the crowd, “I don’t know if he thought about that or if he cares whatsoever. His ideological objective is to rip apart our country’s social fabric and transform it, rebuild it in his own left-wing image. But that’s where the democrat party is at right now ideologically, and when you have basic questions like ‘should men be in women’s restrooms’ and they can’t give you a straight answer, you know something is wrong.” (Full 2025 Committee hearing video below).
He continued, “Just look at the work Republicans have done in Washington in the last two years – cut taxes, secured the border, and made our country significantly more safe, violent crime is down, and cost of prescription drugs are down – the quickest rate in 60 years. Republicans have a lot of major accomplishments.”
“What have Democrats accomplished over the past 2 years? They shut our government down to give our tax dollars to illegal aliens and gave Medicaid to illegal aliens – I think Medicaid should be for Americans” (which drew a large applause).
“They almost unanimously voted against a bill that Congressman Bryan Steil wrote that would stop members of congress from trading stocks – how do you vote against a bill like that?”
“So right now you have a Democrat party that is driving off a cliff, and if you look at the difference between them and us, it couldn’t be more clear. You’ve got one side (Democrats) who want to use your tax dollars that you’ve worked hard for — to pay for transgender surgeries for minors. You’ve got the other side (Republicans) that want to use less of your tax dollars to build roads, bridges and things that make your life better and keep our nation more secure.”
He continued, “You’ve got one side (Democrats) that wants to defund your local police department – does any sane person think that defunding police departments or abolishing the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon make you more safe? Then you’ve got the other side of the isle (Republicans) that says we believe in local law enforcement, we believe in national sovereignty, and we want to have safe communities”
“The democrats want to reopen the southern border as we did under the Biden administration facilitating the largest human trafficking operation in world history. One side of the isle (Republicans) believes a sovereign nation should have a border and that we should determine, on our terms, who comes into our country.”
Gil said, “These are really basic concepts – common sense and basic decency versus wild insane left-wing ideologies. We have to make sure those crazy people never get power again” drawing applause and cheers.
“We do that by making sure we get good Republicans in the House of Representatives and in your governor’s office. Democrats want to knock out Bryan Steil and Tom Tiffany. Democrats are saying all kinds of crazy, insane things about both candidates that are not true, but Dems could care less.”
After Congressman Gill finished his speech, he took a generous amount of time to answer my questions:

Whitmore: The youth vote is pivotal this election – what is the GOP doing to secure the youth vote for the midterms?
Gill: We’re saying the Republican party is the party that is going to give you the opportunity that the Democrats are taking away from you. We believe in border security, we believe you should be able to have a good paying job, you should be able to live in a stable community that is not being socially transformed. You’ve got a Democrat party that believes in open borders, defunding local police departments, promoting woke ideologies in our schools. I think for a lot of young people, that contrast is very clear.”
I briefly highlighted the youth vote migrating towards DSA candidates like Francesca Hong in Wisconsin because of their artificial promises of “free” giveaways in exchange for a vote for DSA.
Whitmore: The Democrat party in our state conveniently installed their so-called moderate candidate of choice. As far as I can tell, these so-called moderates are indistinguishable from the DSA platform. How should we convince moderate or undecided voters to vote Republican?
Gill: We must remind voters the DSA radical socialists are the ones who control the Democrat party right now. They’re the ones who are going to vote for left-wing Democrat leaders to control the House of Representatives. I would remind voters – if you go back to the Democrat primary when Joe Biden was running in the primary – Joe Biden was supposed to be the moderate candidate. He was running against Bernie Sanders, the socialist. Then, Joe Biden got into power and governed like the most left-wing President we’ve ever had – open borders, allowed our cities to burn to the ground, the most radical left-wing Administration we’ve ever had. And the same thing is going to happen if we elect these pseudo moderates in the party. They believe the same things as the radicals do. There may be some disagreement on how fast they want to get to their communist utopia, but they’re all going in the same direction. If you empower them, what you’re really doing is empowering the radicals.
Whitmore: The Save Act – since the Senate failed to get that done, what is the federal government going to do to ensure we will have a secure election this November?
Gill: We’ve got people monitoring polls all across the country. We’ve got an Administration that is actively working to ensure that only American citizens are on voter rolls. We’ve got a lot of work to do with the Save Act, which by the way, is why we need Republicans in office. This Administration has done a ton of work to ensure that elections are administered properly and only — again only — American citizens are voting.
Whitmore: Tom Tiffany often says Wisconsin is the firewall to stop the spread of Communism, socialism and left-wing ideology. What is Wisconsin’s impact on the national stage and what role are we going to play in the midterms to serve as that safeguard?
Gill: Tom Tiffany is going to make Wisconsin an ideological leader in this country. He’s going to work to bring down taxes, work to keep your communities safe, work to make sure you’re going to have economic opportunity in Wisconsin. This is somebody who I’ve seen in Washington – he knows the people who sent him to DC and he’s fighting for them – that’s what I expect from a Governor Tiffany.
