Candidates in the 2026 Democratic primary for governor have finally turned on each other. The knives are out, and the gaffes are piling up. Episode 63 of New Fashioned Conservatives breaks down the Democratic disarray, the hypocrisy of a few Democrat legislators, and the mediocre endorsement of the week.
AFP Event on Nuclear Energy
The episode opened with a recap of a recent Americans for Prosperity (AFP) event on nuclear energy in Wisconsin featuring State Senator Julian Bradley, Paul Scheklman of the Northwoods Policy Center, and former Miss America and nuclear engineer Grace Vanderhai.
Mandela Barnes Starts Attacking His Primary Rivals and is Attacked in Return
Justin and Shadow Gov didn’t hold back on Mandela Barnes this week. After previously struggling to break through, Barnes struggled to name a book he’s read and to remember what policy he wrote. He got hammered, and Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez came out looking sharper and more composed by comparison.
Data Center Hypocrisy and Fundraising Games
The fellas then called out a Democrat State Senator for fundraising off opposition to data centers despite having helped write the original legislation that gave tax breaks to a Port Washington data center.
While several Democratic candidates rushed to embrace moratoriums, heavy new regulations, and fundraised off their positions, Jodi Habush Sinykin conveniently forgot she supported tax credits for a controversial project in her backyard.
Deb Andraca Forgets Who Signed Title IX — And Gets Mocked Accordingly
Speaking of forgetful legislators, state Rep. Deb Andraca recently celebrated the 54th anniversary of Title IX. The landmark 1972 law prohibiting sex discrimination in education was signed by Republican President Richard Nixon. Yet the post and commentary gave the impression that Andraca (or her team) either didn’t know or preferred not to mention that inconvenient historical fact by posting a picture of Democrat President Lyndon Banes Johnson signing an executive order while ignoring the math of 2026 minus 54.
Jenna Jacobson Labeled One of the Most Shameless Politicians in the Senate
But the shamelessness doesn’t end there. The fellas also took aim at state Rep. Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon), who is currently serving in the Assembly and is running for the competitive 17th Senate District seat held by Republican Howard Marklein. The hosts called her out as one of the most shameless politicians currently serving in the Wisconsin State Legislature.
Jacobson has spent the session waiting until after the Governor signed bills into law before adding her name as a cosponsor. This is a shameless attempt to con voters into believing she is working for them and supporting bills.
Assembly Battleground Projections
Republicans currently hold a 54-45 majority. The Shadow Gov walks us through the top 11 Assembly races that will decide who controls the legislature.
Mediocre Endorsements from Political Relics
The fellas review the latest round of Democrat gubernatorial endorsements, including a long-forgotten progressive shock jock, a two-term congressman from nearly two decades ago, and an interim governor who was last in office during America’s bicentennial.
