Republican Secretary of State candidate Nate Pollnow posted a picture on social media showing Secretary Sarah Godlewski’s office closed for the day at 12:40 pm on Wednesday.
Look, we know Wisconsin’s Secretary of State doesn’t have many actual responsibilities, but is it too much to ask Secretary Sarah Godlewski to at least pretend to work?
Republican Secretary of State candidate Nate Pollnow posted a picture to X Wednesday showing Godlewski’s office apparently closed for the day at 12:40 pm.
“Madison is a mess, and our current Secretary of State is not even showing up for work,” he said.
Godlewski responded, claiming that Pollnow stopped by her office after normal business hours because he posted his tweet at 6:11 pm.
“Hi Nate — our office serves customers 8:00–4:30, Mon–Fri. If you stop by during business hours, you’ll see the work we’re doing to modernize the office — from launching an online records portal to increase transparency to expanding digital services for Wisconsinites across the state!” she wrote in response to his post.
Pollnow, though, then provided proof that the picture was taken at 12:40 pm and needled Godlewski, saying she “can’t even get [her] office hours right.”
Godlewski is not running for re-election, choosing instead to run for lieutenant governor. Democrat JoCasta Zamarripa has announced plans to run in the Democratic primary. Pollnow and former lieutenant governor candidate Cindy Werner are running in the Republican primary.
