Democratic congressional candidate Rebecca Cooke has announced plans to campaign with Sen. Bernie Sanders in Western Wisconsin this weekend doubling down on the endorsement that helped carry her through a contentious primary battle. The rally was announced just days after Cooke publicly rebuked the opportunity to campaign with former Vice President Kamala Harris, stating ‘I don’t need anyone to come and campaign with me in my district.’
Sanders is scheduled to hold a rally in Viroqua on October 28, with Cooke set to appear alongside the self-proclaimed democratic socialist Vermont senator, in the final days before the November 3rd election against current Congressman Derrick Van Orden.
This is not the first rally Cooke has held with Sanders. They campaigned together in August 2025 to promote her candidacy. While Cooke rallies again with the Democratic Socialist Senator, she is simultaneously trying to position herself as a moderate Democrat.
“While Rebecca Cooke hides from Kamala Harris, she consistently wraps her arms around socialist Bernie Sanders. Commie Cooke continues to prove she will be nothing but a rubber stamp for the radical far-left and is completely out of touch with Wisconsin values,” NRCC Spokesman Zach Bannon said in response to the latest Cooke-Sanders rally.

Cooke has worked to present herself as a moderate in a district Trump carried, even as she leaned on Bernie Sanders to fend off a progressive primary challenger. Now, with control of Congress hanging in the balance, Cooke is distancing herself from Kamala Harris while hoping voters overlook the socialist she enthusiastically welcomed to Western Wisconsin.
