President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Chippewa County Friday, marking his first trip to Wisconsin since winning re-election in 2024.
The President will travel to Custer Farm in Chippewa Falls, where White House officials say he will highlight his administration’s support for the state’s farmers and rural communities. The visit includes a focus on policies aimed at lowering costs for agricultural producers, expanding trade opportunities and reducing regulatory burdens.
“Wisconsin families put their faith in President Trump in 2024, and he has spent every single day since taking office fighting and delivering for them,” White House Assistant Press Secretary Liz Huston said in a statement.
The President will emphasize efforts to lower input costs, create new trade markets, reduce red tape, and create new Rural Opportunity Zones, which establish tax incentives for capital investment in rural areas such as Chippewa County.
Rep. Derrick Van Orden, who represents the region in Congress, will join Trump for his visit as he faces a tough re-election fight against liberal Democrat challenger Rebecca Cooke. Trump is expected to tout Van Orden’s candidacy and highlight his success in Congress, although Van Orden says the two are planning to talk “policy, not politics.”
“This presidency, and [Trump’s] previous presidency, has been really, I would say the most pro-farmer administrations two in a row with the President that have ever existed,” Van Orden said. “I mean, we are working together to make sure that people in rural America have some breathing room.”
