In their first-ever livestream post-debate reaction, the hosts of New Fashioned Conservatives quickly cut through the spin after Tuesday night’s lone Democratic gubernatorial primary debate.
Joined by special guests @wiz_political and @mkejsonlinebs, Justin Phillips and Robin Vos Stan offered unfiltered, real-time takes as the five candidates — Francesca Hong, Mandela Barnes, David Crowley, Joel Brennan, and Kelda Roys — shared a stage in Milwaukee. The episode is pulled straight from the livestream, which ran smoothly after some early audio hiccups. The debate drew mixed reviews across Wisconsin media, with nearly all praise going to the hosts, Matt Smith and Gerron Jordan. The NFC crew landed firmly in the “mostly boring” camp. What stood out most was the curious decision by Hong’s rivals not to lay a glove on her. Despite leading the field and polling well ahead of the rest of the pack, the Madison socialist faced almost no direct attacks. Everyone else stuck to repeating their policy talking points. That choice left the hosts and guests shaking their heads.
