Milwaukee — Prosecutors have formally charged 16-year-old Breontae M. Tyler as an adult in connection with the April 14 shooting death of David Krause.
According to Milwaukee County court records, the criminal case (2026CF003608, State of Wisconsin vs. Breontae M. Tyler) was electronically filed on July 30, 2026. Tyler faces one count of felony murder, one count of operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and one count of arson of property other than a building.
The charges stem from the Walker’s Point incident in which Krause, 35, was shot and killed after asking a group of teens for a ride during severe storms on 414 Day. Prosecutors allege Tyler shot Krause during an attempted robbery; the vehicle involved was later set on fire.
Tyler was previously the subject of a juvenile waiver hearing. On July 23, a judge ordered him transferred to adult court. Media outlets are naming him because he is now charged as an adult. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on August 10. If convicted of felony murder, he faces up to 35 years in prison.
Two other teens remain charged in the case; one has already been denied waiver to adult court, and a third waiver hearing is still pending.
