With Election Day approaching, one thing is clear: Democrats in Wisconsin continue to struggle with enthusiasm. And their response is trotting out a parade of, at best, B-List Hollywood names and a deeply unpopular presidential nominee. This only underscores just how hollow their grassroots support has become.
They brought in Kerry Washington, whose most popular TV show ended in 2018, for a “rally” and canvassing.
They have Julia Louis Dreyfus doing fundraising appeals.
Rebecca Cooke hosted a rally with socialist favorite, Bernie Sanders.
And they brought in failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris this week.
This reliance on failed candidates and B-List celebrities tells us everything we need to know: Wisconsin Democrats aren’t enthusiastic about their candidate, and their policies are those of coastal Hollywood elites, not Midwest values. They are simply hoping that “star power” can substitute genuine grassroots momentum.
It rarely works, because voters at the end of the day value authenticity above all else. They want to see an energetic, honest candidate, not Hollywood celebirties. Voters recognize desperation when they see it.
