Democratic candidates for Wisconsin governor will meet Tuesday night in what party observers describe as a critical final debate before the Aug. 11 primary, with attention focused on efforts to slow state Rep. Francesca Hong’s lead.
The one-hour forum begins at 7 p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium at Marquette University. WISN 12 will broadcast it live and stream it on the station’s website, YouTube and Facebook pages, as well as on partner stations across the state.
Mandela Barnes, Joel Brennan, David Crowley, Francesca Hong and Kelda Roys are all scheduled to take part.
Hong, a Democratic Socialists of America member, has led nearly all polls conducted this year. Crowley re-entered the race this month with the endorsement of outgoing Gov. Tony Evers after earlier suspending his bid.
Democrats have tried to coalesce behind Crowley in an attempt to prevent Hong from securing the nomination. The primary winner will face Republican nominee Tom Tiffany in November.
