Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany announced Monday that, if elected, he will not fly the Pride flag over the Wisconsin State Capitol. Instead, the building will display only the American flag, the Wisconsin state flag, and the longstanding POW/MIA flag. A spokesperson stated that the state government “should focus on representing the people of Wisconsin as a whole and remain a place of unity.”
In an interview with Tim Young on his ‘Tim Runs His Mouth’ podcast, Tiffany reinforced the message: “As governor, the State Capitol will stand for unity and common sense. In addition to the POW/MIA flag that has long flown over the State Capitol, we will fly two flags when I am governor: the Wisconsin state flag and the American flag. That’s it. No politics.”
Tiffany’s pledge comes as June begins Pride Month observances, a period when some Progressive-led governments and leftist institutions have elevated various rainbow flags to equal or near-equal status with official state and national symbols. Such displays turn government property into venues for partisan activism rather than neutral symbols of the entire citizenry. The move reinforces the principle that elected officials serve all Wisconsinites, not activist factions pushing contested social agendas.
