Wisconsin Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski posted a cringe video during Tuesday’s severe storms in which she appears shocked that hail can occasionally fall. Naturally, she blamed climate change.
Wisconsin’s Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski took to Facebook on Tuesday to deliver her latest “crazy aunt cringe” video — this time, a full meltdown over golf-ball-sized hail pelting her front yard during severe storms that hammered south central and eastern Wisconsin.
In the clip, Godlewski stares wide-eyed at the ice chunks in her lawn and declares in a high-pitched screech: “This is not normal!” She then pivots straight to politics, insisting, “Republicans say we don’t have climate change, but this is golf-sized hail in my front yard!”
The storms rolled through the region Monday afternoon and evening, producing the kind of hail Wisconsinites are accustomed to seeing during heavy storms. Meteorologists reported golf ball-sized stones in places like the Madison area, nothing unprecedented.
In fact, the day before, Wisconsin was kicking off Severe Weather Awareness Week. The week is coordinated by Wisconsin Emergency Management and the National Weather Service with a focus on tornado preparedness, storm safety, and emergency readiness. But for Godlewski, a Democrat running for lieutenant governor, it was apparently a climate change emergency in her yard.
Social media users wasted calling out her theatrics:
Others pointed out that hail — even big hail — has been a fixture of Wisconsin thunderstorms long before anyone was blaming it on carbon emissions.
The outburst perfectly captures the left’s habit of turning every raindrop, snowflake, or ice ball into the latest reason to panic and push for their climate agenda. While families across south central and eastern Wisconsin were simply dodging dents in their cars and cleaning up their yards, the secretary of state was busy trying to make this political and blaming Republicans.
