Congressman Tom Tiffany has secured the endorsement of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s political action committee, Volunteers for Agriculture, in his campaign for governor, giving the Republican frontrunner the backing of the state’s largest general farm organization.
The endorsement comes as Tiffany has made his agricultural roots a central theme of his campaign. Growing up on a dairy farm in western Wisconsin, Tiffany has frequently highlighted his farm upbringing in speeches and early campaign advertising, arguing it shaped his views on hard work, stewardship, and the challenges facing rural communities.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau,” Tiffany said. “Growing up on a dairy farm in western Wisconsin taught me the values of hard work, personal responsibility, and stewardship that have guided me throughout my life. As America celebrates its 250th birthday, we should remember that Wisconsin farmers have been helping feed this great nation for generations.”
The Farm Bureau’s political arm said Tiffany’s positions closely aligned with its priorities, pointing to his support for protecting farmland from foreign adversaries, reducing regulatory burdens on farmers, expanding Farm Bureau Health Plans, and creating opportunities for the next generation of Wisconsin farmers. The organization also praised Tiffany’s support for local control over the siting of large wind, solar, and Data Center projects as well as his record on agricultural issues in Congress.
“Congressman Tiffany understands Wisconsin agriculture and has a clear record of standing with farmers,” said Volunteers for Agriculture Committee Chair Austin Vandertie. “His commitment to protecting farmland, supporting the next generation of farmers, reducing unnecessary regulatory burdens, along with his record of leadership on key issues like the Pet and Livestock Act in Congress show his commitment to farmers and resonated strongly with the committee.”
The endorsement is notable given the Farm Bureau’s willingness to back candidates from both parties. In 2024, the organization’s Volunteers for Agriculture committee endorsed Tammy Baldwin in her successful reelection campaign to the U.S. Senate.
The backing from Wisconsin’s largest farm organization also undercuts a line of attack Democrats have increasingly deployed against Tiffany. In recent weeks, Democratic gubernatorial candidates and state party officials have sought to tie Tiffany to President Trump’s tariffs and rising diesel prices following his appearance at an agricultural roundtable in Chippewa Falls. Despite those attacks, Wisconsin’s largest general farm organization concluded Tiffany’s record and policy positions best aligned with the priorities of the state’s farmers.
With the endorsement, Tiffany adds another major statewide organization to his coalition as he continues to emphasize agriculture, rural economic growth, and farmland preservation as key pillars of his gubernatorial campaign.
