Yesterday, I secured an exclusive interview with presumptive Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany, and it reveals so much in just 1 minute.
Firstly, we have to thank Tom for taking the time to talk with us and for pulling himself away from a line of supporters who wanted to talk to him. His day in South East Wisconsin, specifically at The Racine County Fair, was successful and a sign of his growing support and momentum.
The first big takeaway is that Tiffany is on top of the shift that appeared in Tuesday’s debate. Most candidates embraced DSA talking points and socialist rhetoric throughout the night. Hong spent time commenting on affordability and taxing the rich while sidestepping key DSA beliefs like abolishing the Senate and replacing the presidency and Supreme Court. But as Tom pointed out recently, Hong is in line with the DSA extremists.
Tiffany and his campaign are attacking Hong on the right points, which is more important than ever after the failure of the Crowley resurrection and the lack of attacks against Hong. The Wisconsin Democrat party seems stuck with Hong, and Tiffany is ready. Tom led off with that point, saying: “It is clear that the leading Democrats in Wisconsin have capitulated to Democratic Socialism, to big-government socialism.”
The other key takeaway was Tiffany’s answer to an important question: what do you say to a Wisconsin swing voter? Here’s his quick pitch: “Tom Tiffany, he is one of us. I grew up in this state; I raised my family in this state; we—me and my wife — had a small business in this state. I love this state, and we’re going to make Wisconsin great once again.”
Tiffany and his campaign have been making the most of the cleared primary field, as democrats wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars on an attempted coup of Hong. Will this make a difference? Many believe so. The messaging against democrats, or this time socialists, has never been so on point and effective this early in the race in recent history.
