An internal poll from a Wisconsin organization that has done extensive and ongoing polling on the governor’s race shows Democrat David Crowley leading Tom Tiffany by two points among likely voters, the Heartland Post has learned exclusively.
According to that poll, Crowley leads 49%-47% statewide but only leads Tiffany in the Madison and Milwaukee regions. Tiffany leads in every other area of the state, including a surprising 53%-47% advantage in the Green Bay/Appleton media market.
He also leads rural voters by a substantial margin and holds solid leads among married voters and middle-income voters.
“Our poll shows the higher the turnout, the better Tiffany does,” says a source who provided the poll to the Heartland Post.
The poll’s findings closely mirror the most recent public poll in this race–from the League of American Workers–which found Crowley leading Tiffany 47.7%-44.6% among likely voters. A day earlier, the final Marquette University Law School poll in the governor’s race showed Crowley leading by seven points among likely voters but three among registered voters, reflecting a much tighter race if total voter turnout is bigger.
