US Congresswoman Gwen Moore is once again focused on everything except the people she was elected to represent. Her latest social media post shows her visiting an ICE detention facility in Leavenworth, Kansas, not to address Milwaukee’s problems, not to stand with struggling families, not to confront the violence plaguing her district, but to advocate for illegal aliens, whom she even calls her “constituents.” Who paid for this visit? Why is she wasting taxpayer time and money on people who don’t pay taxes and cost taxpayers money?
Illegal aliens are not her “constituents.”
They cannot vote. They are not citizens. And they are not the people living with the daily consequences of Milwaukee’s failures.
Yet Moore traveled hundreds of miles to champion their cause while ignoring the emergencies happening right here at home.
Milwaukee is in crisis and Moore is nowhere to be found. Why do we, us Black people, keep voting for her? She has done nothing for us and she takes us for granted.
Moore represents Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District, which includes nearly all of Milwaukee and its surrounding suburbs, Cudahy, South Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, St. Francis, Glendale, Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point, Bayside, and Brown Deer.
Her district is dealing with:
School‑adjacent shootings: Milwaukee has the second‑highest rate in the nation, with more than 4,100 shootings near schools since 2017. Moore is not walking families to school to experience what they live through.
MPS academic collapse: Thousands of children cannot read or do math at grade level. Black students are even further behind all other races by a lot. She is not addressing the academic crisis in MPS.
A 200‑officer police shortage: Mayor Cavalier Johnson has openly said the city needs help finding funding for more officers. She is not helping secure federal support for police staffing.
Teen mobs terrorizing neighborhoods: From downtown to the suburbs, youth violence is out of control. She is not confronting the violence tearing through Milwaukee’s neighborhoods. Her neighborhoods.
Human trafficking: Milwaukee is a known hub for trafficking, especially involving vulnerable youth. Moore is not standing with mothers searching for missing daughters who are being sex trafficked.
But she does have time to fly to Kansas for a photo‑op with detainees.
Moore’s post reads like a campaign commercial, emotionally charged language, dramatic framing, and a clear attempt to score easy social media points. She claims ICE is motivated by profit, not safety. She calls detainees “constituents.” She paints herself as a hero swooping in to rescue “moms with no criminal records.”
Meanwhile, Milwaukee families have been begging her for help.
This is not leadership or the representation Milwaukee deserves. This is not what the 4th District needs.
For years, Moore has coasted on name recognition and a safe seat. She rarely campaigns. She rarely engages with the community outside political events. And she rarely addresses the issues that matter most to the people who actually live here in her district.
Many residents feel abandoned and they have every right to feel that way.
If voters in the 4th District want change, they must look at Tim Rogers, the Republican candidate, and decide who will actually show up for Milwaukee’s struggles.
