In the latest episode of New Fashioned Conservatives, Justin Phillips and Shadow Governor Vos break down the Marquette Law School Poll released Sept. 30. Democrat David Crowley leads Republican Tom Tiffany 49% to 46% among likely voters, with 5% undecided. That is inside the poll’s margin of error. In August, Crowley led 49-44. Among registered voters, it is 46-45, after a 44-44 tie in August.
The movement underneath the headline is the part worth watching. Republican support for Tiffany rose 4 points, to 95%. 31% of Wisconsin voters view the Democratic nominee favorably, and 44% view him unfavorably. Crowley’s unfavorable rating rose 15 points from August to September. His favorable rating slipped 2 points.
When asked whether they agree with Crowley’s positions, 32% say they mostly agree, and 39% say they mostly disagree. Another 28% say they do not know enough. For Republican Tom Tiffany, 40% say they mostly agree with his proposals, 41% mostly disagree, and 19% have not heard enough. More voters side with Tiffany’s agenda than Crowley’s.
The hosts spend real time on the BOW counties: Brown, Outagamie, and Winnebago. That Fox Valley and Green Bay belt has been treated as bellwether territory for years, and Tiffany is running well ahead there. If that regional strength holds through November, it is one of the cleaner paths for a Republican to offset Milwaukee County and Dane County and win statewide.
For candy, Justin has thoughts on high school theatre.
